Common Marquee Hire Questions

  • What size marquee do I need?
    • The following rules of thumb can be used to get a rough idea of the size of marquee required:For a buffet event: a minimum of 8 square feet per person For a seated event: a minimum of 15 square feet per person Additional space will be required for dance floors, catering tables, music equipment, bars etc.
  • How long is the marquee hire period?
    • For weekend events, the marquee is yours for both Saturday and Sunday. During the week, the length of the marquee hire period is by arrangement.
  • Can marquees be opened up in warm weather?
    • Yes. The walls of all our marquees can be easily opened. It is generally a very straight forward process and can be decided on the day.
  • Do we need heating with our marquee and how warm are they?
    • Even in midsummer, a heater may be necessary during the evening. Make a decision in the week leading up to your party once you have seen the weather forecast. We use only the latest heaters, they are very effective and mean our marquees can be surprisingly warm even in the middle of winter.
  • Are marquees suitable for winter events?
    • Marquees make ideal venues for Christmas and New Year parties. Powerful heaters (see above question) ensure warmth, and hard flooring protects a winter marquee from wet winter ground. Decorated and illuminated appropriately you can have the charm and convenience of a marquee event even in winter.
  • How safe are your marquees?
    • All our marquees are made from materials that conform to British Standard specifications and are fully fire resistant. We also have full insurance cover.
  • Can I make last minute changes to my marquee?
    • Yes. We will always endeavour to accomodate last minute changes wherever possible.
  • When will you put up/take down my marquee?
    • For a weekend event we typically, we erect marquees on the Wednesday, Thursday or Friday beforehand; we then dismantle them on the following Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. If you have a special requirement, please let us know and we will timetable for that.
  • Can the marquee be connected to a building?
    • Yes. Our marquees can serve as an 'extension' to a building if the space is suitable.
  • Could a marquee damage cables or pipes running underneath the site?
    • If cabling or pipework is located near the surface, damage is possible. So please advise us if any water mains or electrical cabling are close to the ground
